The Premier League season curtain-raisers are now just around the corner, and most clubs across England have dedicated their efforts towards integrating new signings before the league commences.

In Arsenal's case, truth be told, it is difficult to describe what exactly the club has been up to this summer. An opportunistic deal for Riccardo Calafiori remains the only new addition and while the signing of Mikel Merino seems close, it still feels as though the club's transfer strategy has been very relaxed - too relaxed even.

Fans have seemingly been under the illusion of there being some mystery signing under the wraps, but with no sign as what it may be, or whether there even is something to expect, there's an air of uncertainty surrounding the Emirates Stadium at the moment.

We may start seeing more frequent updates with just a few weeks remaining until the transfer window slams shut. On that note, recent news revealed that Bayern Munich winger, Kingsley Coman is available on the market. Arsenal are reportedly one of the clubs linked with the situation too, but the deal may not be as straightforward as it may have been made out to be.

Here are two pros and cons as to whether it's worth the Gunners plotting a move for the Frenchman.

Pro #1 - Attacking options need a reshuffle

Mikel Arteta has crafted a prolific attack in north London. Arsenal were the second most prolific scorers in the Premier League last season and just five goals adrift of Manchester City. However, a considerable portion of Arsenal's output came at the turn of the year off the back of a profligate spell. The Gunners went goalless in five games last term, a number Arteta will want to bring down in 2024/25.

All in all, the offensive department is not quite complete yet and it is the depth behind the first team which has particularly failed to meet requirements.

Kingsley Coman is a veteran of his trade and has amassed 12 league titles in his career for PSG, Juventus and Bayern Munich. A tricky winger with blistering pace, he brings a combination which the Arsenal squad could use more of, and his signing has the potential to breathe some new life into the frontline.

Ultimately, it would be an underwhelming step sideways if Arteta were to lead out the same attacking options as last season. At least with the addition of Coman, there is a fresh, new tactical option that could possess the potential to change the tides in games where the current crop isn't enough.

Pro #2 - Deal structure could benefit Arsenal

Kingsley Coman wouldn't be the first winger on Arteta's shortlist - the north London club previously held an interest in Nico Williams earlier this summer, and have been linked with the likes of Leroy Sane and Eberechi Eze as well. A move for any of the aforementioned options may still be on the cards, but an advantage to negotiating for Coman instead is that the deal could be much more feasible.

Given the player is openly available to sign and that Bayern Munich are also willing to consider loan offers, Arsenal may see this as an opportunity to acquire a last-ditch stop-gap if all else fails.

If a buy clause were to be included too, there's always the prospect of sealing a permanent move if Coman's impact is to standard, but equally, there is no constraint on the Gunners if the deal fails.
