3 reasons why Arsenal are right not to sign striker this summer

  • Arsenal have had a quiet transfer window
  • It looks like there will be no striker purchase
  • There is other business that the club must do first

3. Striker market is not ideal

This ‘excuse’ could yet be shot down by a £70m Victor Osimhen bid, although there is currently no sign that such a move will happen.

Besides the Napoli man, all the usual suspects – Viktor Gyokeres, Alexander Isak, Dusan Vlahovic – are likely to command huge fees and/or are not up for sale, so it is probably not worth exploring them right now or settling for a worse candidate.

Then the other name, Benjamin Sesko, seems to be our number one choice and is expected to move next year following his recent contract extension at RB Leipzig. Arsenal will be leading the charge at that point but, until then, they will probably stick with their current striking options.

Playing the long game is a big frustration, yet Havertz and Jesus can soften the blow and it should not detract from the other attacking business which fans can reasonably expect to happen before the market shuts.

Is it too late to keep Eddie?
