3 standout players from Arsenal’s comfortable win against Luton
- Arsenal moved back to the Premier League's summit after win
- Emile Smith Rowe impressed on rare start
- Gabriel rock soild yet again
3. Gabriel
For the second game in a row, Gabriel makes my list of standout players. Fresh off the back of ending Manchester City’s home scoring streak, Arsenal’s defence came up against the team with the then longest ongoing scoring streak in the league.
Gabriel once again stood firm alongside his teammates and helped David Raya to another clean sheet. The Brazilian, who each week is proving himself to be just as important as William Saliba, was called into action on occasion to sweep up for Oleksandr Zinchenko.
The centre-back made five clearances and won 80% of his ground duels but in a game of little opposition threat, it was his composure on the ball that impressed me. The Gunners were perhaps the most comfortable they have been all season in playing out from the back, with Gabriel providing no exception.
The Brazilian had 81 touches and maintained a pass success rate of 87%. It was a comfortable defensive performance for the Gunners as they made it 28 points out of a possible 30 in 2024. Long may this form continue.
