Unsurprisingly, Arsenal continue to be linked with a move for Ivan Toney in the summer transfer window. Needless to say, Mikel Arteta is placing a key significance on signing a new striker in the summer transfer window, as Edu Gaspar has worked tirelessly to compile a seven-man shortlist. That said, who are the winners and losers from Arsenal signing Ivan Toney?
3 winners and 3 losers from Arsenal signing Ivan Toney this summer
Winner - Gabriel Jesus
Contrary to initial belief, I think Gabriel Jesus could benefit from Arsenal signing a centre forward. While it does heat up the competition for places in this position, Gabriel Jesus is good enough to stake a claim on the wing, where I think he would actually be better off anyway.
It would also relieve the onus from Gabriel Jesus to score 20+ goals in the season, a task he simply cannot achieve at Arsenal. Ivan Toney could do that, though.
Loser - Eddie Nketiah
While Gabriel Jesus could fight for a place on the wing, Eddie Nketiah cannot. Unfortunately for the Hale End graduate, signing a world-class centre forward would only render Nketiah as surplus to requirements.
Signing Ivan Toney leaves Nketiah on the firing line for a summer transfer. However, it would benefit his career and it would be good to see Nketiah get regular game time elsewhere, providing they are not a league rival.
