It is well documented that Arsenal are in the market for a new striker this summer. Countless reports have suggested that Mikel Arteta sees the need for a world-class centre forward in his bid to win the Premier League. With that in mind, it's no surprise to see that Arsenal are linked with a handful (and more) of strikers in today's Arsenal transfer news.

Arsenal transfer news as Mikel Arteta linked to SEVEN new strikers

According to English outlet Mirror Sport, Edu Gaspar has drawn up a ten-man shortlist in Arsenal's hunt for a new striker this summer. While the list may be long, the report has identified seven of the possible ten players considered by Arsenal.

Firstly, the report mentions Ivan Toney. This should come as no surprise to the Gunners, as Mikel Arteta is a known advocate of the Brentford striker. His impressive performances for club and country since returning from his ban would have only emphasised this interest.

Then, Benjamin Sesko is considered by Arsenal. The 20-year-old Slovenian striker has seen his market value increase rapidly this season, after making the switch from Salzburg to Leipzig. He has scored seven Bundesliga goals and provided two assists, despite rarely featuring in the starting eleven.

Thirdly, Viktor Gyokeres is on the shortlist of Edu Gaspar. It goes without saying that he is already a fan favourite, scoring an incredible 33 goals across all competitions for Sporting this season.

Up next, it's Alexander Isak. Isak is gaining popularity amongst the Arsenal fanbase in recent weeks, as his name is cropping up a lot. The Swedish international already boasts great Premier League experience, being a key catalyst to Newcastle qualifying for the Champions League.

Victor Osimhen is unsurprisingly mentioned. The Nigerian international is one of the best strikers in the world, so he is bound to come with a heavy price tag. Pain in the Arsenal recently ran through which players would win and which would lose from Arsenal signing Osimhen.

Evanilson, who Arsenal know well from their two meetings with Porto in the Champions League, is on the shortlist of Edu. He has been scoring goals for fun in Portugal this season.

Lastly, Lois Openda is considered by Arsenal as their seventh transfer target. Openda is having a great season with Leipzig and he is the key reason why Sesko isn't seeing much game-time this season, despite also impressing. Openda has scored 19 Bundesliga goals and provided four assists this season.
