Arsenal are said to be interested in signing Johan Bakayoko from PSV in the summer transfer window. With the Belgian winger interested in a new adventure, Arsenal could certainly tempt him but what does it mean for the current squad? Bukayo Saka (winner)
The player who this deal would affect the most is the player currently occupying Bakayoko's position, Bukayo Saka. Finally, it would time for the Englishman to receive adequate backup in the starting lineup.
Although it seems counterintuitive to say a player would benefit from competition in their position, Saka's case is different. Everybody knows that Saka is a favourite of Mikel Arteta so instead of being replaced, he will be afforded greater rest time with a player who can step in during times of need.
Gabriel Jesus (loser)
Where Bukayo Saka benefits, Gabriel Jesus will certainly not. Given that the Brazil international has already lost his spot at centre forward to Kai Havertz, providing backup on the wing might have been his best route back into the starting lineup. Unfortunately with Johan Bakayoko potentially joining the ranks, this only weakens Jesus' case.
