Arsenal paid a club record fee for Declan Rice last summer, and in his first full season in north London, he was sensational. But where does he rank among all of the transfers made across Europe for the season?

Arsenal narrowly missed out on the Premier League title, with the club taking it to the final day as they looked to usurp Manchester City. A large reason why the Gunners were able to push City for so long was Declan Rice.

Signed in the summer for a club record fee, Rice hit the ground running and put in top performance after top performance to the point where, for some, he's Arsenal's Player of the Year.

But as good as Rice was, among all transfers made across Europe last summer, where does his 2023/24 efforts rank? In a list of 21 players compiled by, Rice, somehow comes in at 15.

"Arsenal were determined to win their bidding war with Manchester City for Declan Rice and the Gunners will feel they were 100 percent right to pay a club-record fee for the former West Ham captain," writes. "Mikel Arteta's men didn't manage to win a trophy, but Rice was excellent, adding steel and control to the midfield, as well as being involved in 16 goals in all competitions."

Now, when talking about world football, the fact that Rice comes in at No. 15 is a good effort, but some Arsenal fans might consider Declan a little unlucky not to be higher on the list.

Still, that is some achievement for the Gunners' midfielder.

Now set to have another full preseason with Arsenal and if Mikel Arteta gets his way this summer, Rice will have a new partner in the heart of midfield as rumors swirl that Thomas Partey could be on the move.

For Rice, it was a season to remember as he more than lived upto his hefty price tag and was one of the best midfielders in the Premier League.

As far as his 15th ranking, should he be higher? that's in the eye of the beholder.
