Arsenal fans finally feel they have got their club back and it's testament to the fine work of Mikel Arteta. In the latter stages of Arsene Wenger's tenure and throughout Unai Emery's, Arsenal were subject to fair ridicule. Time and time again, they would humiliate themselves on the big stage. Since Arteta took over, this has all changed.

Granted, Arteta took some time to get to grips with the club and instil his own philosophy but now, it appears everybody is on the same page. They have shown significant improvement in each season under Mikel Arteta and despite finishing the 2023/24 season trophyless, they did well to take the title race right to the final day.

Since Mikel Arteta is still a young manager and Arsenal is his first head coach role, it is understandable that he is considered by many clubs. This is particularly a concern for Arsenal this summer, given that most of the top European clubs are on the hunt for a new manager.

Arsenal finally enter talks to extend Mikel Arteta’s contract

However, Arsenal wish to secure the long-term future of Mikel Arteta. According to a report from Football Insider, Arsenal have entered "advanced talks" with Mikel Arteta to extend his current contract. Furthermore, it is revealed that the talks between Arteta and the club are "progressing nicely".

Mikel Arteta is clear in his vision - He wants to win the Premier League as Arsenal head coach. It is unfortunately an achievement he missed out on as the player and captain of Arsenal, so he wishes to achieve it as head coach. He was painstakingly close to achieving that this season, but it will only add fuel to the fire to beat Man City to the title next season.

Given that his current managerial contract runs out in the summer of 2025, Arsenal understandably wish to secure his long-term future before the 2024/25 season commences. This will ensure that everyone is on the same page and it would limit any anxiety about Arteta's future at the end of the upcoming season.

After this contract situation is sorted out, it will be onto planning for the summer transfer window, as far as Mikel Arteta is concerned. The summer presents a golden opportunity to the Spanish coach to improve his squad and add any missing pieces of the puzzle. It is widely documented that Arsenal must sign a new striker in the summer, and this is thought to be Arteta's priority.
