Arsenal legend and Hale End graduate officially retires from football

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny, who played for the Gunners between the years of 2009–2017 has announced his retirement from football.
Wojciech Szczęsny headed into this European season without a club and after careful consideration, he will formally step away from the game.
The Poland international came through the Arsenal academy and emerged into one of the best Arsenal goalkeepers of the Premier League era, proving to be a mainstay in the Arsene Wenger era of Arsenal.
This means that playing for Poland at the recent EURO 2024 competition was the final involvement for Wojciech Szczęsny. Last season, he won the Coppa Italia with Juventus, so he bowed out with a bang.

In a great testament to Arsenal, Wojciech Szczęsny opened his statement by claiming: "I left Warsaw, my hometown in June of 2006 to join Arsenal with one dream - to make a living out of football.
Szczęsny continued: "Little did I know it would be a start of a journey of a lifetime. Little did I know that I would get to play for the biggest clubs in the world and represent my country 84 times.
It will take some doing for Arsenal fans to forget about Wojciech Szczęsny. As mentioned, he became one of Arsenal's best goalkeepers of the Premier League era, honing his craft under Arsene Wenger after coming out of the youth academy.
Not only was the Poland international an exceptional goalkeeper, but he was also a very likeable character. He will always be remembered for his jokes in the dressing room and of course... Joining Jack Wilshere in those famous chants against Spurs.
Now, Wojciech Szczęsny retires aged 24 years old. Throughout his illustrious career, he won three Serie A titles, three Coppa Italia trophies and two FA Cups.
