Arsenal's David Raya produced a save against Aston Villa that defied the laws of physics and left Mikel Arteta speechless.

Games in the Premier League are often decided by moments and for Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya, he had a superb moment against Aston Villa.

While the Gunners would walk out of Villa Park with a 2-0 win thanks to second-half goals from Leandro Trossard and Thomas Partey, Arsenal has Raya to thank for keeping the scores level in the second half.

After a deflected shot forced Raya to back peddle, it hit the cross bar and fell invintingly to Ollie Watkins with the goal at his mercy from a coupleof yards out. Cue Villa goal celebrations right?

Nope, not this time as Raya did his best Mr. Fantastic impression and stretched out his left arm to deny Watkins what should have been a certain goal.

"I thought it was a goal because I saw the reaction of the defensive line, which was none because the ball goes on the crossbar and we are all watching the ball and I went, no, please," Mikel Arteta said of Raya's save via arsenal.com. "And then I see the striker in that position and normally it’s a goal but David’s reaction. It's unbelievable."

Considering it was only nine minutes into the second half, had Watkins managed to score, the Gunners would have been facing an uphill battle, given how they had played prior to taking the lead through Trossard.

But Raya produced a moment of magic that kept the scores level and allowed Arsenal to build into the game en route to a 2-0 win and a perfect start to the season.

Games are often defined by small margins and had Watkins aimed his header a little better, we could be having a different conversation.

But when Raya's moment came, he made the most of it. Save of the year, anyone?
