Arsenal's Riccardo Calafiori is already sick of Premier League referees

Riccardo Calafiori scored a stunning goal against Man City. However, his full Arsenal debut was ruined by poor refereeing calls.
For Arsenal, it's the defenders who are doing the job currently. Not only from a defensive standpoint, but also an offensive one. Their last three goals have all been scored by defenders, after all.
Against Man City, Riccardo Calafiori got on the scoresheet with an incredible long-range finish. Then, Gabriel Magalhaes put the Gunners ahead with a well-worked set-piece routine.
Unfortunately, Riccardo Calafiori scoring a peach of a goal on his full debut was overshadowed by controversial referring decisions. The Italian signing is the latest to add his two cents on the situation.
Arsenal's Riccardo Calafiori is already sick of Premier League referees
Speaking after the match via Sky Sports, Riccardo Calafiori was quick to hit out at Premier League referees. He, like every football fan ever, is sick of Premier League referees.
In his own words, Calafiori said: "Referees have to do their job to keep the game good to watch, this kind of action they don't have to put them selves too much. [Trossard] didn't even hear the whistle. Come on! You have to do your job"
Riccardo Calafiori is referring to the second offence which caused Leandro Trossard to receive a red card. He was shown a second yellow due to kicking away the ball "after" the whistle had been blown.
In fact, Trossard had already begun the process of kicking the ball before the whistle was blown. At this stage, it would take David Raya level reactions to withdraw his action.
Ultimately, the game was decided by Michael Oliver, the referee on the day who chose to make it all about himself. It was evident throughout that the rules applied to Arsenal but not to Man City.
Throughout the game, Man City players circled Michael Oliver and hounded him. All Arsenal fans ask, is when was the communication that this was no longer an offence?
From Calafiori's perspective, yesterday was the first start he made for Arsenal in the Premier League. Therefore, he would've been disappointed to see the standard of officiating in the best league in the world.
As the rules continue to be tightened, fans should expect to see more games in the Premier League played with less than 22 players on the pitch. Unfortunately, this is the current trajectory.
