Arsenal transfer target issues transfer request, Mikel Arteta interested

With the Premier League season set to get back under way this week, Mikel Arteta is in a good position to stake his claim for the title yet again, with the hopes of being successful this time. The Gunners have strengthened the squad by signing Riccardo Calafiori, who got off to a good start in pre-season. However, there are still question marks about the Gunners not signing a striker.
Going into the summer, this was a contentious debate. On the one hand, Arsenal lacked a natural centre forward with a proven tack record of scoring goals consistently. But on the other hand, Kai Havertz had got off to a good start to proving himself as one of these players in 2024. Alas, as things stand, Arsenal have not signed a striker this summer.
Arsenal transfer target issues transfer request, Mikel Arteta interested
According to a report from Metro, one of the strikers who Arsenal are currently linked with, Victor Osimhen, has handed in a transfer request. In many ways, this was a long-time-coming, but the Nigeria international is wishing to begin a new adventure away from Napoli. Furthermore, Gianluca Di Marzio claims that Arsenal remain interested in signing him.
Needless to say, Victor Osimhen would be a luxury option. However, if Arsenal are successful in selling Eddie Nketiah for the right price, they would be in a better position than they currently are to land him. Even then, though, fans would be less optimistic.
As things stand, Osimhen just seems like the obvious name that publications would throw out into the ether. This doesn't mean that Arsenal aren't interested, but at this stage of the transfer window, fans should only take "interest" seriously when that interest materialises into bids being made and terms being discussed.
Of course, no Arsenal fan would upturn their nose at signing Victor Osimhen, unless they've been living under a rock for the last few seasons. However, at this stage, it's hard to believe that Arsenal will push through. Maybe, though.
