There's a midweek slate of Premier League action to enjoy with Arsenal hosting Luton Town on Wednesday night.

The Gunners relinquished their lead at the top of the table on Sunday, but the vast majority were left content with their efforts at the Etihad. Mikel Arteta adopted a pragmatic game plan aimed at nullifying Pep Guardiola's Manchester City, and his players executed it to perfection.

The stalemate they secured in Manchester could prove crucial when it's all said and done - even if the title is no longer in their hands.

They'll return to the summit with a win on Wednesday with Liverpool in action the following evening. However, we shouldn't expect a midweek cake walk. Luton have impressed against the league's best this season, but the Hatters are yet to score a memorable triumph. Arsenal left it late in the reverse fixture, with Declan Rice heading home in stoppage time to seal a dramatic 4-3 win.

Rob Edwards' men are fighting against the drop, but they won't be earmarking this fixture as one they necessarily have to score points from. They have nothing to lose on Wednesday night, especially given their injury woes.

Here's our preview of Arsenal's clash with Luton.

Arsenal team news

The boss should give Bukayo Saka a breather after the winger hobbled off on Sunday. Saka was only dealing with fatigue, but Arteta can ill-afford to burn the Spaniard out.

In his place, Leandro Trossard could start down the right.

Gabriel Jesus could start up top over Kai Havertz, who could earn a rest, while Takehiro Tomiyasu and Thomas Partey are both in contention for starts.

Jurrien Timber continues to train, but it remains to be seen when he'll return to action after such a long time out.

Luton Town team news

Luton's injury woes worsened at the weekend with Tahith Chong and Alfie Doughty picking up knocks. Given the quick turnaround, we shouldn't expect either player to feature at the Emirates. Reece Burke is also a doubt.

Those three joined an extensive injury list. Luton are currently without Tom Lockyer, Amari'i Bell (thigh), Marvelous Nakamba (knee), Elijah Adebayo (thigh), Dan Potts (thigh), Mads Andersen (calf), Chiedozie Ogbene (thigh), Jacob Brown (knee), and Gabriel Osho (knee).

Arsenal vs Luton Town score prediction

Luton have been courageous against the Premier League's top dogs, typically man-marking their superior opponents in an attempt to unshackle and disrupt. Such an approach has ensured they've been competitive in the majority of their outings this season, and they almost snatched a point down the road in N17 on Saturday.

They're a tricky side to play against, but their injury issues mean claiming anything at the Emirates is surely beyond them. I don't doubt that they'll give it a good go, but the personnel Edwards has available shouldn't give Arsenal too many issues.

This is a great chance for Arteta to rotate and for a few fringe squad members to impress.

Prediction: Arsenal 3-0 Luton Town
