Arsenal want £30m for Eddie Nketiah as Nottingham Forest come calling
- Nottingham Forest have come in for Eddie Nketiah
- Arsenal reject £25m from Premier League club
- Forest prioritising Nketiah move; Arsenal want at least £30m
Arsenal are continuing to play hard ball over the sale of Eddie Nketiah, with the club rejecting an opening bid of £25m from Nottingham Forest.
The Gunners are keen to oversee the sale of Nketiah this summer following the emergence of Kai Havertz as a productive number nine. While the German has thrived in a forward position, Nketiah has failed to make a single Premier League start in 2024.
The English forward signed a lucrative contract extension following a bright end to the 2021/22 season and has proven himself to be a serviceable asset for Mikel Arteta despite never being considered first choice following the arrival of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City.
His sinking down the striker depth chart makes a departure wise before the end of the summer window, but Arsenal have so far had their issues in facilitating his exit.

There was supposed Premier League interest at the start of the window, but Marseille have come the closest to prising the forward away from the Emirates. Arsenal were willing to let Nketiah leave on loan for 2024/25 if it meant the French club bought him outright the following summer, but Marseille rejected the Gunners' terms and instead turned to Elye Wahi of Lens.
Despite that setback, it seems as if Edu's patience may pay dividends. The Athletic report that Nottingham Forest have already had a £25m bid including add-ons rejected by Arsenal.
While the Gunners are happy to let Eddie go, they want to receive what they believe is a more than reasonable price for the 25-year-old. Arsenal reportedly want somewhere in the region of £30m-£35m for their academy graduate.
Forest also boast an interest in Feyenoord marksman Santiago Gimenez, but Nketiah is said to be their priority. Crystal Palace are also monitoring the situation.
If Arsenal are able to get their desired fee for Nketiah, we can laud Edu for his patience. That'd be a great bit of business, and, hopefully, his sale aids the arrival of another attacking star before the end of the window - whomever that may be!
