Heading into the summer transfer window, most of the discourse surrounding Arsenal involved Aaron Ramsdale. This was to be expected, since he missed the opportunity to leave in the 2024 January transfer window, after being kicked out of the Arsenal starting lineup by David Raya.

This summer, Arsenal signed David Raya permanently from Brentford. This was an expected action, since he is the preferred option under Mikel Arteta. The Spaniard did win the Premier League golden glove last season during his first campaign with Arsenal, so it's hardly surprising that Arteta prefers him.

However, Aaron Ramsdale deserves game-time too. So, hopefully he finds a club which suits his needs, and he can get back to his best. Fabrizio Romano believes this could happen...

Fabrizio Romano suggests Aaron Ramsdale will transfer away from Arsenal

According to an update which Fabrizio Romano posted to his Instagram account, Aaron Ramsdale is expected to leave Arsenal in the summer transfer window. This is due to personal terms being agreed with his direct replacement, Joan Garcia.

In his own words, Fabrizio Romano said: "Ramsdale expected to leave as Arsenal agree on terms with Garcia. Aaron Ramsdale [is] prepared to leave Arsenal in the final days [of the summer transfer window] as Bournemouth and Wolves are also interested."

Fabrizio Romano claims that Arsenal would prefer to initiate a permanent sale, rather than a loan move. He believes that the club are under the assumption that anything can happen with a week and change remaining in the summer transfer window. Either way, Joan Garcia is lined up to replace Aaron Ramsdale as David Raya's backup.

Arsenal also signed Tommy Setford from Ajax this summer. However, the young goalkeeper is more a signing with the future in mind. Joan Garcia is capable of playing first-team football, ageing 23 years old and approaching the prime stages of his career. Regardless, the Spaniard is more than likely to play second-fiddle to David Raya, who recently made the PFA Premier League Team of the Year.
