Fabrizio Romano drops Arsenal transfer update involving Aaron Ramsdale
By Kian Long
So far, the summer transfer window has been somewhat lacklustre for Arsenal. Sure, they signed Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna, with the defender showing plenty of promise. However, Arsenal fans are yet to see the Italian in competitive action, so judgement is withheld until then. Other than this, Arsenal signed David Raya to a permanent deal and Tommy Setford as a punt for the future.
With under two weeks remaining in the transfer window, Arsenal fans anticipate (and wishfully hope) that more signings are made. Regardless, Mikel Arteta is in no rush since he would have been happy with the current squad and their terrific display against Wolves in the Premier League opener.
Well, fans may soon get what they hoped for, but it would come at quite a big loss. Fabrizio Romano has dropped a major Arsenal transfer update.
Fabrizio Romano drops Arsenal transfer update involving Aaron Ramsdale
According to Fabrizio Romano on X (formerly Twitter), Arsenal have already reached a verbal agreement over personal terms with Joan Garcia. It is believed the Espanyol goalkeeper is the priority Arsenal transfer target for Mikel Arteta, if Aaron Ramsdale leaves the club.
Last season, Aaron Ramsdale was kicked out of the starting lineup and it will not change this season. In fact, it was no surprise to see David Raya, now a permanent Arsenal player, make the starting lineup in the first game of the season, ahead of Aaron Ramsdale. Ramsdale was on the bench but he wasn't needed.
The consensus heading into the summer transfer window was that it would be time for Aaron Ramsdale to leave the club, after not being in Mikel Arteta's plans. As relayed by Fabrizio Romano, though, there is just one week and a half for Ramsdale to secure a move away.
As things stand, Arsenal have not submitted any formal bid for Joan Garcia. At this point in time, he is simply an "if necessary" signing, but Arsenal have secured a head-start for themselves by agreeing to personal terms. This is smart from Edu Gaspar.
In an ideal world, Arsenal would not need to replace Aaron Ramsdale. After all, the England international remains one of the most popular figures at Arsenal among the fanbase, despite not starting. This is not a surprise considering his infectious personality and humour, both in interviews and behind closed doors. In many ways, he helped Arsenal to qualify for the Champions League again.
Do you think Arsenal will sell Aaron Ramsdale this summer?
