Arsenal remain active in the 2024 summer transfer window. Mikel Arteta has already landed the signings of Tommy Setford and Riccardo Calafiori, so now his attention can turn to the midfield, or even the attack.

Italian outlet links Arsenal with unexpected Victor Osimhen transfer

According to a report from Corriere dello Sport, Arsenal remain interested in signing Victor Osimhen this summer. The Italian outlet has claimed that the Gunners have contacted Napoli to learn more about Osimhen's up-to-date situation. However, the report does also come with the side note that Arsenal are mostly interested in Viktor Gyokeres, so the preference is the Swede over Osimhen.

Yesterday, we published a report claiming that Arsenal were prepared to bid around £60m for the signing of Viktor Gyokeres. However, the Swedish international has a release clause of £85m, so Sporting definitely hold the cards there.

I mean, I don't think any Arsenal fan would turn their nose up at Victor Osimhen. The Nigeria international is a proven goal-scorer who has emerged as one of the best in the world over the last few seasons. In fact, he was key to their 2022-23 Serie A title win.

Admittedly, Napoli have fallen off quite a bit. They went from finishing the league two seasons ago, to finishing 10th last season. Quite frankly, it's a fall-off which needs to be studied in a lab but it serves as one of the many reasons why Osimhen would like to leave. It stretched back to the beginning of last season, when the official club account posted a TikTok video which seemingly mocked Osimhen for a penalty miss.

So, long story short; Arsenal fans should not get excited by Arsenal's interest in Osimhen *yet*. After all, the only action they have made is contacting Napoli to learn about his situation. However, it does mean that the interest remains, so it could depend on how the Viktor Gyokeres bidding goes.
