Mikel Arteta stands by under-fire Arsenal star Ben White amid Bayern Munich standoff
- Ben White has received a lot of backlash lately
- Mikel Arteta is clearly a big fan
- The Arsenal boss has stuck by his star player

Unsurprisingly, Arsenal players are the subject of ridicule this season. Already, they have been critiqued for "over celebrating" by the celebration police but the latest player to receive backlash is Ben White.
It's not really a surprise that the English media are out to get him considering he doesn't want to play under Gareth Southgate. However, context truly is important since Southgate is a negative manager who takes current form into account last, always. He has his favourites so why would Ben White spend his best years desperately trying to prove himself to a manager who won't pick him anyway?
Lately, Ben White hilariously wound up the English media even more during the Brighton and Hove Albion match. Against his old club, White became a master of the dark arts. He would be found diving to the floor over challeges which, let's face it, were not worth diving over.
From an Arsenal perspective, anything White can do to wind up the salty pundits is hilarious, providing it's not a detriment to the team of course (which it wasn't, Arsenal won the game 3-0).

Mikel Arteta is clearly a big fan of Ben White, which is why White has made 124 appearances under Mikel Arteta across all competitions. Speaking about White to the media, Arteta revealed his delight in how the full-back is playing this season.
In his own words, Arteta said: “Credit to him. Ben’s always willing to learn, to train, to play in any circumstances, when he’s feeling good, when he’s not feeling that good. He’s open-minded, he has the desire to win and that’s what he made the difference in”.
White is truly a testament to Arsenal and regardless of the shameless media-hounding, Arsenal fans know he is an amazing player. Without a shadow of a doubt, White has been one of the club's best players this season and THE best player in 2024.
He only continues to improve and this is noticed by the manager, hence why he's one of the first names on the team sheet. Long may it continue.
What would you rate Ben White's season out of ten so far?
