Arsenal are expected to have a clear-out in the summer transfer window, as Mikel Arteta aims to finally complete his project of winning the Premier League. Over the last two seasons, Arsenal have come irritably close but with the right transfer decisions, Mikel Arteta could complete his target ahead of schedule.

That said, there are many fringe players who do not seem to be in the long-term vision of Mikel Arteta's, so they are likely first to walk the plank. As Arteta is a difficult to read character, though, it is difficult to understand his true plans for every given player.

Mikel Arteta will unsurprisingly sell Arsenal fan favourite defender

Well, according to a report from Football Insider, Kieran Tierney "will be sold" this summer, since he is not in the plans of Mikel Arteta. The defender who is adored by fans for his tremendous commitment on the pitch has returned from his loan spell with Real Sociedad and now that Scotland are eliminated from EURO 2024, Arsenal will listen to offers for Tierney.

Tierney is still under contract at the Emirates Stadium until 2026. This only works in Arsenal's favour, though, since it strengthens their negotiation position for the best possible price. Of course, the optimism is never high among the fanbase for Arsenal getting the best price for their star players, but Tierney feels like a player who could be worth a fair few pounds.

Given that Arsenal could complete a deal for Riccardo Calafiori, this only adds another body to a position which has plenty of competition for it already. At left-back next season, Arsenal could have Jurrien Timber, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Jakub Kiwior, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Riccardo Calafiori fighting for a spot.

Therefore, it is best for both Arsenal and Kieran Tierney to swallow their pride and admit it is the best route for a transfer this summer. No doubt, Tierney will be a hit at his next club.
