Following the chaos and pure unadulterated drama which undoubtedly caused a few hearts to stop on Sunday, Arsenal supporters will be expecting to enjoy a more serene outing on Wednesday night.

The Gunners, having run the gauntlet on the road last week, are back at the Emirates as they face League One outfit Bolton Wanderers in the third round of the Carabao Cup.

It's been a little while since Mikel Arteta's side enjoyed a proper cup run, but the Premier League hopefuls have as good a chance as any to win this competition. This is a project that deserved more silverware than a solitary FA Cup.

The boss will be expecting to ring the changes in midweek and we should see Hale End represented strongly in Arteta's XI.

Here's how the Gunners; could line up for Wednesday's Carabao Cup tie.

Goalkeeper & Defenders

Tommy Setford (GK) - Arteta has a dilemma in goal. Neto's cup-tied and David Raya's got a knock and likely won't be risked. Perhaps summer arrival Setford gets the nod with Karl Hein out on loan.

Ben White (RB) - White only had 45 minutes into him at the weekend, with Arteta confirming after the 2-2 draw that the Englishman was carrying a knock into the contest. We can assume White's fitness has improved over the past couple of days, and he could be a handy experienced head in defence.

Ayden Heaven (CB) - The 18-year-old has height on his side and is adept in various roles. He's primarily a centre-back, and there's scope for him to enjoy a breakout year having made a couple of appearances in pre-season.

Jakub Kiwior (CB) - Kiwior was seemingly on the chopping block over the summer, but the Gunners retained him and he's certainly a handy option in matches like these.

Myles Lewis-Skelly (LB) - Arteta utilised the gifted teenager in a left-back function over the summer, and while Lewis-Skelly is primarily a midfielder, he could be used in an inverted role against Bolton.

Midfielders

Jorginho (CM) - The Italian, given his experience and the likely youth that's set to surround him, is a great option at the base of midfield. Thomas Partey needs a rest!

Salah-Eddine Oulad M'Hand (CM) - It's been a frustrating start to Oulad's senior career, with injuries preventing the midfielder from impressing out on loan at Hull last season. He did, however, show glimmers back in his homeland with Den Bosch. The 21-year-old's been involved in the previous two pre-season tours, and I'd love to see what he can offer on Wednesday night.

Ethan Nwaneri (CM) - Arsenal's greatest young hope looks comfortable with the seniors, and we're very much expected to see Nwaneri make his first senior start in this one.

Forwards

Raheem Sterling (RW) - We're used to seeing Reiss Nelson down the right in contests like these, but Nelson's plying his trade in west London this term. With Nelson not an option, Arteta will turn to Sterling for his first Arsenal start.

Gabriel Jesus (ST) - It must've been the cornrows that convinced Jesus to have a little spat with the definitely-not-rattled Erling Haaland after Sunday's game. The Brazilian was a second-half substitute at the Etihad, but he should make his second start of the season against Bolton.

Gabriel Martinelli (LW) - Sunday's game was a huge step in the right direction for Martinelli, but he still needs a goal! This is a great opportunity for the Brazilian to get on the scoresheet.
