Arsenal have some tough decisions to make in the summer transfer window. Such is the nature of the current football economy, it's important to decipher which players will leave, before player sales can be made. This is very much the case for Mikel Arteta, who has a handful of players linked with moves away this summer.
Sentimental Arsenal youngster could join Iwobi, Leno & Willian at Fulham
One of those players is without a doubt Emile Smith Rowe. The Hale End graduate who was once one of the most promising players at the club, has fallen on hard times in recent seasons. In fact, the midfielder has started just 3 Premier League games in the last two seasons, not scoring a single goal.
Therefore, it is understandable that Smith Rowe is increasingly linked with a move away from Arsenal. Fans will not like it, since he is a sentimental academy graduate and as a boyhood Arsenal player, it is understandable that he has become a fan favourite. However, the kindest thing for Arsenal to do is sell him this summer, to a club where he can seriously progress.
According to a report from Team Talk, the deal which will see Emile Smith Rowe transfer to Fulham is in full swing. In fact, the Cottagers are prepared to launch a fresh new bid, which Arsenal are likely to accept given their conditions are met. Certainly, both clubs would appreciate the transfer being made.
Should the deal go ahead, which admittedly appears likely at this stage, then Smith Rowe would join former Arsenal players Alex Iwobi, Bernd Leno and Willian. Fulham play exciting football with some brilliant players and they have aspirations of competing for European football next season, as they have routinely been battling it out in mid-table, hoping for better.
In Marco Silva, Emile Smith Rowe would be in safe hands. The manager is known to be an excellent direct coach, who has helped players with structured and personal development plans since he joined the Premier League. The move would benefit all parties.
