One of the names who Arsenal are linked to currently and indeed throughout most of this summer transfer window so far is Viktor Gyokeres. The Sporting CP striker has been tearing it up in the Primeira Liga and he is linked with a move away this summer, with the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool interested in signing him.

Arsenal received one boost earlier this week, in that Liverpool were uninterested in paying Sporting's asking fee, leaving Arsenal as the front-runners to sign Gyokeres. Well, today, Arsenal fans have spotted yet another boost which could hint at the Sweden international's potential transfer to Arsenal.

Sporting hint that Arsenal transfer target Viktor Gyokeres will be sold

According to a report from The Mirror, Sporting CP have paid a fee to Coventry City to reduce their sell-on clause from 15% to 10%. This was accepted by Coventry City and it's believed to be a frugal and prudent move from Sporting, which could work in their favour should they sell Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal.

It is up for debate whether or not Arsenal need to sign a striker in the summer transfer window. While no Arsenal fan would turn their nose up at a new centre forward addition, Kai Havertz has done a pretty good job since converting to this position. Particularly in 2024, the former Chelsea man has been in fine form, acting as one of Arsenal's best players through the centre of attack.

Furthermore, with Gabriel Jesus impressing in pre-season, the Brazilian could be in line to play an important role in the upcoming season. Arsenal fans can just hope that he returns to his pre-injury form at the start of the 2022/23 season. Keeping him fit is key, but unfortunately, there's a fine chance of that.

Viktor Gyokeres is a premium option on the transfer window and he would certainly improve Arsenal. While the Gunners have the finances to pull off great transfers and with key players linked with moves away, they might as well improve the squad, right?
