Unai Emery tells Mikel Arteta to pay £50m for Arsenal transfer target

Arsenal will be active in the summer transfer window. The window is due to open this week but in truth, Arsenal have been active behind the scenes drawing up their own transfer shortlist. It is impossible for anybody but Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar to know their true intentions, but fans can hazard a pretty solid guess that a striker and midfielder will be on the radar.
The hunt for a striker goes without saying but Mikel Arteta is unlikely to neglect a midfield signing, particularly with Mohamed Elneny leaving the club and Thomas Partey potentially doing the same.

Unai Emery tells Mikel Arteta to pay £50m for Arsenal transfer target
To do so, Mikel Arteta has turned to the manager who he replaced at Arsenal - Unai Emery. The former Arsenal boss is now flourishing at Aston Villa, even securing their place in the UEFA Champions League. He has built a solid foundation in the West Midlands but above all else, there is one player who has transformed the club the most.
That player is Douglas Luiz, who has undergone exceptional improvement under Unai Emery and has been the midfield general for the Villans this season. Therefore, it is no surprise that Luiz is of interest to Arsenal, who wish to add to their Brazilian core.
As a former Brazil player himself, Arsenal sporting director Edu Gaspar is the most knowledgable asset in the Premier League for scouting Brazilian talent, therefore, he has been key to locating Douglas Luiz. But how much will Arsenal have to pay for Luiz?
Well, according to The Mirror, Unai Emery has quoted Arsenal a price of £50m for Douglas Luiz. Having previously rejected offers for Luiz, it appears he could now be for sale as Villa attempt to comply with Premier League rules and in order to balance the books.
Douglas Luiz seems like the perfect Mikel Arteta-type player. He is a deep-lying midfielder with an excellent presence, both on and off the ball. He holds the line well, and has a great ability to burst forward with the ball at his feet. He is also an excellent set-piece taker, not that Arteta needs anymore of those in his ranks - Every little helps, though.
Do you think Arsenal will sign Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa this summer?
