Arsenal return to Premier League action as they take on Manchester City in a huge clash this afternoon.

The Gunners were victorious last time out as they started their Champions League campaign with a 2-0 victory at Athletic Bilbao. Just moments after coming off the bench, Gabriel Martinelli put Mikel Arteta's side ahead when he raced through on goal before beating the 'keeper with a fine finish. Fellow substitute Leandro Trossard then put the seal on victory late on with a deflected strike.

This will be no easy game for Arsenal so Arteta will know he has to field a strong side if he wants to take three points from the contest. While some players are an uncertainty, he will have to play the best team possible to secure the victory.

Here's how the Gunners could line up for their blockbuster clash with Man City.

Goalkeeper & Defenders

David Raya (GK) - He has continued to be solid between the sticks, conceding just one goal so far this season. He will remain the starting 'keeper this afternoon.

Jurrien Timber (RB) - A combination of his brilliant form and White's injuries has seen him be the first-choice right back and that will continue today.

William Saliba (CB) - He has missed the last two games through injury with Cristhian Mosquera filling in for him. However, his ability and experience will be needed this afternoon so he should return to the starting XI.

Gabriel Magalhaes (CB) - His defensive capabilities have shown through once again during the season's opening matches and his brilliance will be needed to help thwart City's frontline. He may also lead his side out as captain having done so in midweek.

Riccardo Calafiori (LB) - Despite facing competition from Myles Lewis-Skelly and Piero Hincapie, he will continue on the left side of defence today.

Midfielders

Eberechi Eze (CM) - He could move into a more central position for this clash and will look to play an advanced role as he switches to his preferred spot in midfield.

Martin Zubimendi (CM) - Having been so solid in the centre of midfield so far this season, he will continue against City. This could be his biggest and hardest test yet for his new side.

Declan Rice (CM) - Playing as the left-sided number eight, his performance in the middle will be crucial. If he can help control and dominate the game, he will contribute plenty for his side.

Forwards

Noni Madueke (RW) - He has proven his doubters wrong with his showings since stepping in for Bukayo Saka and will look to do the same as he continues on the right flank against City.

Viktor Gyokeres (ST) - The Swede will lead the Arsenal line despite suffering a head injury in Bilbao. There will be an individual battle between him and his sky blue counterpart Erling Haaland as they both look to be the match winner this afternoon.

Gabriel Martinelli (LW) - His goal and assist off the bench in the Champions League is enough to bring him back into the starting lineup following an uneventful start to the season. Fans will hope his performance in midweek will bring him plenty of confidence.
