Arsenal host their final home game of the 2024/25 season on Sunday afternoon, with potential usurpers Newcastle coming to town.

With a win (their fourth in this fixture this term), the Magpies will leapfrog the Gunners and finish the weekend in second spot. Anything but a defeat for the hosts will all but guarantee their place in next season's Champions League.

The campaign's been a disappointing one from Arsenal's perspective, but after they rallied from 2-0 down to earn a point at Anfield last weekend, there's a chance for Mikel Arteta's men to end the season with some positive momentum heading into a significant summer.

Here's how Arsenal could line up for Newcastle's visit on Sunday.

Goalkeeper & Defenders

David Raya (GK) - Raya's still in the Golden Glove hunt despite a dearth of recent clean sheets. Newcastle have scored netted five past the Spaniard this season, and Alexander Isak has refused to slow down during the run-in.

Ben White (RB) - Jurrien Timber will be assessed ahead of the game, but I'm content with leaving him out for the remainder of the season given his workload. White can start the final two games.

William Saliba (CB) - Real Madrid's move for Dean Huijsen should ease fears regarding Saliba's future, and the club must aim to extend the Frenchman's deal over the summer. He's been a fixture in Arteta's backline all season.

Jakub Kiwior (CB) - Kiwior's been tested plenty since coming into the side, and this physical and direct Newcastle outfit will give the Pole plenty to think about.

Myles Lewis-Skelly (LB) - Harshly ignored for the Young Player of the Year award, Lewis-Skelly continues to be favoured over Riccardo Calafiori since the Italian returned from injury.

Midfielders

Thomas Partey (DM) - Jorginho should be back this week, but Partey is set for another start at the base of midfield. Could this be his final appearance at the Emirates?

Declan Rice (CM) - Rice was back in training in the week after recovering from a hamstring injury, and is a shoo-in to come into the engine room with Mikel Merino suspended.

Martin Odegaard (CM) - Life is so much easier when Odegaard decides to let fly from distance. There were brighter signs from the captain last weekend, and let's hope he finishes the season with a pair of strong performances.

Forwards

Bukayo Saka (RW) - Saka missed the Carabao Cup meetings against Newcastle earlier this year, but was kept quiet in the reverse fixture. Eddie Howe always has a plan for the winger.

Leandro Trossard (ST) - With Merino out, Trossard, who sustained a knock at Anfield but is fine, will retain his place in Arsenal's attack.

Gabriel Martinelli (LW) - Martinelli will likely rotate plenty with Trossard, allowing to take up centreal positions throughout the contest. The Brazilian had success when deployed up top last Sunday.
