Arsenal eased into the next round of the Carabao Cup with a 3-0 win over Preston, with Gabriel Jesus, Ethan Nwaneri, and Kai Havertz getting on the scoresheet.

Jesus, who was in desperate need of something positive heading into the game, got the scoring going inside half an hour with a nice volley from close range before Nwaneri doubled our lead just nine minutes later with a delicious curling effort.

Havertz then put the game beyond doubt after half-time with a well-taken header to give the Gunners some breathing space.

It was a good night for the Gunners as Tommy Setford got his debut in goal and Ayden Heaven got his first minutes for the club as well.

Here are three takeaways from Arsenal's 3-0 win over Preston.

1. Can Jesus build on his performance?

If there was any player in the squad who needed a goal, it was the Brazilian. With his first-half strike setting the tone for the Gunners, Jesus performed at a level we grew familiar with at the start of his Arsenal career.

His flair and trickery seemed to be back, which has been sorely missing of late. He managed to go from scorer to provider for Nwaneri's goal, so Jesus grabbed a goal and assist on what was a great night on an individual level.

Now he has to repeat it.
