Raheem Sterling wound back the clock with an impressive performance against PSV, winning the Man of the Match award.

You will be hard-pressed to find a player as much maligned for Arsenal as Raheem Sterling (although Kai Havertz is another option) as the winger, who joined on loan in the summer, hasn't lived up to anything thus far.

Largely used as a substitute by Mikel Arteta, Sterling has underwhelmed, and even when handed a rare start, he doesn't take advantage of his opportunity.

Against PSV, with the Gunners holding a 7-1 lead after the first leg demolition, Arteta decided to rotate the squad and hand Sterling another rare start.

But this time, it was one that he took with both hands as he set up Oleksandr Zinchenko for the game's first goal, and was a provider again as his cross found Declan Rice who headed home Arsenal's second.

Two assists on the night and in truth, it should have been two goals as well, with Sterling sent clean through twice, only to be denied twice. But still, his performance was a long time coming not only for him, but for Arsenal fans who have wanted to see a glimpse of the old Sterling, and against PSV, they got it.

"Yeah, in the second one, and then he does the last final action as well that he can score," Arteta said of Sterling's confidence via arsenal.com. The keeper makes a save and the way he tracked back as well after the corner in the last action when he got booked, that's the kind of player that we want to see.

Now, we aren't going to get carried away with one performance as Sterling, since arriving, hasn't shown that he is up to the standard that Arteta needs from his players, but against PSV, he was.

Now, with a select few games left in the season, and Real Madrid in the Champions League, Sterling will be called upon time and time again to produce as he did against PSV.

Whether he can or not is another thing entirely, but at least we know what he's got something still in his locker to pull out on the odd occasion.

The biggest thing for Raheem is that now he has some form of confidence, is to build on it and with the Gunners looking to secure a top four spot, maybe his redemption story has another chapter left to be written.
