In under an hour, Arsenal will face Man United at Old Trafford. The team news is already out for both sides, and there is one standout story: Rasmus Højlund isn't involved in any capacity.
The Danish striker is completely removed from the Man United squad, and according to Fabrizio Romano, it's not because of an injury or any other practical reason.
The Italian journalist thinks that Ruben Amorim sees Rasmus Højlund's time at Man United as 'over,' and Man United is now pushing for a transfer exit for Højlund.
This was despite previous claims that Højlund wasn't fazed by other players coming in, and that he wanted to stay. That desire to stay is only one-sided, as Man United wants him gone.
In his own words, Romano said: "Rasmus Højlund and Manchester United, it’s definitely over. Højlund won’t be part of Man United squad against Arsenal as club sends clear message pushing for his exit. United open to permanent and also loan deal, Højlund will assess his options."

So, it's all kicking off for the home team before they host Arsenal in the first Premier League game. This is drama that wouldn't even happen at Arsenal, and it's a ruthless decision from Ruben Amorim that not even Mikel Arteta would make.
Arteta had to make some pretty ruthless decisions himself in the Arsenal rebuild, including stripping Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of captaincy. However, the decisions made by Arteta at least had some backing and reasoning.
Amorim has removed Højlund for one reason and one reason only - He doesn't want him anywhere near the club. As far as we know, and some more news may even come out to counteract this, but Højlund hasn't done anything wrong.
So, Man United fans are confused by this complete omission. If anything, you would've thought that including Højlund on opening day could help his sale happen. Removing him completely just presents him as an outcast, and paints a strange tale that something more sinister has happened.
