Earlier this week, an impressive fact that highlighted the brilliance of Arsenal's defensive abilities was pointed out on social media.
Several media outlets noted that Luton Town, who now sit 11th in League One after successive relegations, are the last team to have scored three goals in a game against the Gunners, having done so almost two years ago in December 2023.
Having not conceded more than twice in one match for almost two years, Arsenal's status as one of the best defensive sides in Europe is very much intact and not much shows that better than this neat little fact.
This two-year-old defensive stat makes Arsenal's brilliance crystal clear

Arsenal have evolved into arguably the best defensive side in the world in recent years with the formidable centre back partnership of Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba proving very tough for opponents to break down while Myles Lewis-Skelly, Riccardo Calafiori, Ben White and Jurrien Timber and all provided reliable cover on either side of the backline.
The three goals they conceded at Luton came in a dramatic victory that saw them come from 3-2 down to win 4-3 in the 97th minute, courtesy of a Declan Rice winner. They have not let in that many in a game since, proving their defensive brilliance.
The Gunners have come under plenty of criticism over the past seasons for their willingness to sit back and defend, but while that isn't the case, it's clear to see while many believe that. It's because Mikel Arteta's side are just so good at shutting out their opposition.
Since the start of the 2023/24 season, Arsenal have kept 35 clean sheets in the Premier League, the most of any team in England's top flight and six more than second placed Manchester City. They have also boasted the strongest defence over the past two campaigns, conceding just 29 and 34 goals in the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons respectively, despite not winning the title in either.
While the Gunners have occasionally struggled to find the back of the net in recent times, their defence has bailed them out on more than one occasion and helped them to important victories, not just in the league, but also in the Champions League.
Arsenal are continuing to show how good they are this season as they currently sit top of the league. They will be hoping that they can extend this near two-year run without conceding three goals as they look to finally end their wait to win the Premier League title. Fans should be confident that it can be done with a team as solid as this.
