Declan Rice isn't going to get rest anytime soon. He has just been named in the England squad for the upcoming two friendlies against Uruguay and Japan. In naming Declan Rice, Thomas Tuchel confirmed everything that Arsenal fans already knew about him: He isn't going to do Arsenal any favours as England boss.
Declan Rice is showing no signs of fatigue, which is surprising even to those who know him most. He ran himself into the ground against Bayer Leverkusen, and he's expected to play yet another pivotal role this weekend against Man City.
After that, he is likely to start for England in their last meetings before the World Cup. There really is no rest for the wicked.
Thomas Tuchel will do Arsenal no favours
Thomas Tuchel named a gigantic 35-player squad. No squad needs to be 35 players deep, especially for two friendly games. ESPECIALLY considering how gruelling the season already is for many of these players.
I know, I know. We're fed the narrative that playing for England is the biggest privilege for players, and anybody should bend over backwards for the opportunity to represent them. However, try telling that to a team of overworked players who are at the most pivotal point of the season.
There are players in the team in a title race, a relegation battle, or a campaign to achieve European football. Better yet, players from Man City, Chelsea, and Real Madrid had no break over the last summer with the Club World Cup.
Let's be honest, we don't need more games of football, especially friendly games. The World Cup is the biggest competition in global sport, it's quite literally second to none. Of course, preparation time is important for all countries, but they've planned this poorly.
If the World Cup is so important, which nobody is denying it is, why place the Club World Cup in the summer right before it? That's a rhetorical question, by the way; we all know the real rea$on.

Anyway, back to Arsenal.
Arsenal fans better wish Declan Rice takes it easy for England
Declan Rice has been Arsenal's player of the season, even if Thierry Henry thinks differently. Without him, they wouldn't be in contention for a quadruple. Therefore, it's easy to say on an Arsenal blog that it's frustrating to see players risk injury on international duty at such a pivotal point in the season, but a lot of fans of different clubs will be thinking the same thing.
It's not even a direct call out to Thomas Tuchel. He's only doing his job, which is to name the best England players possible. He's done that by naming Declan Rice.
However, the anxiety surrounding Declan Rice's looming fatigue (if he even knows the meaning of that word) is only bound to exacerbate due to his inclusion in two additional games for England.
International breaks suck. They will suck even more if any Arsenal players pick up an injury that could derail the quadruple push. That's the moral of the story.
