Arsenal demolished Aston Villa 4-1 on Tuesday night to further strengthen their hold on the Premier League top spot.

Aston Villa, who are currently third in the Premier League table, were on an 11-game winning streak before playing against Arsenal, and they were truly outclassed at the Emirates, as every time Arsenal went forward, they looked like scoring.

After so many games where Arsenal have won unconvincingly, they finally looked likee themselves again on both ends of the pitch, scoring four great goals while putting in a shift defensively.

Unai Emery's side was missing a few players, but even then, Arsenal totally dominated proceedings from start to finish, and in doing so, ironically proved Emery right.

Emery, a day before the match, was asked about Arsenal's title chances, and what he said about them was spot on, but unfortunately for him and Aston Villa fans, they found out at their own expense.

He said: “I think Arsenal are favourites to win the league. How they are building the team, how they are improving a lot of things, more players in their squad. Some players, they are coming back after being injured, like Havertz and Jesus, and of course, look and see them now, stronger.

“We are analysing them to play tomorrow like we analysed three weeks ago, and of course, we have as well enough players and enough structure tactically and individually and mentally as well to try to face them, but of course, it’s the biggest test we are going to face.

Despite beating Arsenal a few weeks ago, Emery said that his former team would be the toughest challenge he will have all season. And he was right.

Emery knew what he was going to face at the Emirates. Obviously, the context matters, too. There were quite a few absentees in that game at Villa Park, and they looked rusty in games prior.

Now, they have had a few returnees, and they have also won a few games, being more confident and consistent, so it was bound to be a more difficult game.

It is just brilliant to see just how much of a return to form this was, because it is really tough to beat this Aston Villa side. They were beating every team, including title rivals Manchester City.

Now, though, Arsenal will be much more confident going into the second half of the season, and it'll be interesting to see how it unfolds. They are the best team in the world, and after a few weeks of a bit of a struggle, they are finally starting to look the part, too.
