Arsenal winger Christos Tzolis has been unlucky early in his Gunners career. He suffered a hamstring injury while on international duty with Greece, and is now set to miss the next couple of games when he returns to North London.
Tzolis had started every Premier League game this season for Arsenal, but, now that he's injured, the Greek winger will miss the Gunners' game against Leeds United when they return at the weekend. It's a huge blow for Tzolis, who was beginning to find his feet at the Emirates.
The 24-year-old joined in the summer when he signed for £34 million from Club Brugge in the summer. He was part of Arsenal's plan to replace Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli, although he has seen mixed results so far.
In five Premier League games, Tzolis is yet to score for the Gunners, although he does already have an assist to his name. Now that he's injured, Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke and Max Dowman would expect to all play a part in replacing him.
Theo Walcott says Arteta should drop Tzolis away from home
The 24-year-old's hamstring injury is expected to keep him out of action for a couple of games, but it shouldn't be long before he returns. He has been starting in the left-wing role for Arteta, but the Spaniard may need to rethink his decision.
Former Arsenal winger Theo Walcott believes that Arteta should drop Tzolis in away games, as he has only looked comfortable when playing at home so far.
Walcott told talkSPORT: "I like Tzolis, but from what I've seen away from home, I haven't been as impressed. It's difficult to really shine away from home. You can have those players that are great at home or great at training, but can't [do it] away when it really matters."
"Don't play him, play someone else, play someone who is going to work for the team or do something different."
If Arteta is to drop Tzolis away from home, then Eze would be the obvious choice to replace him. Even though Eze is more of a natural number 10, he is still comfortable on the wing, and he is more of a difference maker on the ball.
It remains to be seen who Arteta will choose over Tzolis, but seeing as he will be forced into the decision against Leeds United, it will either prove Walcott right or show that Arsenal have even more of a need at left-wing.
