Manchester United are now pursuing a move for former Arsenal target Benjamin Sesko and while that could frustrate some fans, it could actually be of great help to the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta's side appeared to have made the Slovenian their primary striker option earlier in the summer, but numerous issues caused the developing deal to stall, prompting their attention to be turned to Viktor Gyokeres. Arsenal have since signed the Sweden international, bringing an end to their interest in Sesko.

It now appears as though Sesko could still make the move to the Premier League with United prioritising him as a top target, but with Newcastle also reported to hold an interest, a potential transfer to Old Trafford could help the Gunners.

It's a known fact that Arsenal won't be signing Sesko this summer. Some fans are disappointed with this, but most know that bringing Gyokeres to the Emirates instead was the smarter move. The Swede is the 'now' player that the Gunners desperately need while his Slovenian counterpart is yet to fulfil his promising potential.

Regardless though, it would be frustrating to see a player of his talent move to one of the clubs' biggest rivals. However, Sesko signing for Man United may actually be of great help to Arsenal due to the impact it could have throughout the transfer market.

United aren't the only club interested in a move for Sesko however, with Newcastle also exploring a potential deal. The Magpies have lined him up as a potential replacement for Alexander Isak, should he leave Tyneside, and their interest has prompted United to accelerate their actions.

Isak is heavily linked with Premier League champions Liverpool and if the Reds do manage to strike a deal to secure his services, Arsenal's ambitions for the upcoming season could be affected on a disastrous level.

Signing Isak would elevate Liverpool from being an already brilliant side to a completely superior one that the Gunners would find extremely difficult to compete with. Newcastle aren't willing to let the Swede go, but their stance could be changed if they manage to sign Sesko.

If the Magpies come out on top in the battle to secure Sesko's signature, then Isak is likely to move to Anfield, but if it is United who are the victors, that potential deal becomes a whole lot more difficult for Liverpool to manage.

Newcastle are highly unlikely to let Isak leave if they don't have a suitable replacement and that would make life very tough for the Reds in their attempts to sign him. While Isak signing for Liverpool isn't guaranteed either way, it would suit Arsenal much better if Sesko moves to United.

I never thought I'd write this, but let's hope if Sesko comes to the Premier League this summer, his destination is the red half of Manchester.
