Declan Rice (CM) - 8/10 - So you know all of those complaints, most of them justified, about Mikel Arteta packing his squad with defensive players known more for their physicality than flair? Well, it turns out Arteta's default setting is useful when you're reduced to 10. Especially with Declan Rice maintaining his signature brand of scrappy industry at the heart of the engine room.

Thomas Partey (CM) - 7/10 - He wasn't quite at Rice levels, but Thomas Partey showed the appetite for tough tackling and the stubborn defensive streak that once made him a favourite of arch-bus parker Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid.

Ethan Nwaneri - 5/10 - This should have been a breakthrough moment for Ethan Nwaneri. Martin Odegaard's illness gave the 17-year-old the chance to pull the strings as Arsenal's chief creative force. Honestly, Nwaneri was struggling even before being sacrificed for match-winner Calafiori.
