Arsenal Set to Slay the Giant-Slaying Middlesbrough

Arsenal are coming off a rather anticlimactic win against Leicester to face Middlesbrough in the FA Cup, a competition that ended Arsenal’s trophy drought last year.

Middlesbrough are best known for their slaying of Manchester City, but can they hope to down two top Premier League teams in one FA Cup run?

Prediction: Arsenal 4-1 Middlesbrough

Theo Walcott has found the goal

You know what they say, once you score, it just keeps on coming. Well, Theo Walcott has scored, and we’re all waiting patiently to watch it keep on coming.

And against a foe like Middlesbrough, why wouldn’t it?

Walcott’s speed is enough to give Premier League team defenses fits and troubles, so against a lower-tiered team, there will be no containing him. Mesut Ozil will have assists begging to be had, all he has to do is pick out the runs of Walcott, who’s starting to remember how to score.

Mesut Ozil is acting like Mesut Ozil

Mesut Ozil has not been on top of his game since coming to Arsenal. Adjusting to life in English football has been incredibly difficult for him.

However, since returning from his injury in his new bulked-up form, the German pass-master has been simply stunning. He’s been scoring and assisting and contributing to nearly every goal the Gunner’s have notched as if he’s been doing this his entire career or something.

Ozil will be going up against a side that won’t be able to stop his passing. Plus, with the German being in his best run of form since donning the Arsenal jersey, he’ll have plenty of playing time to work with.

Olivier Giroud is the hottest striker in the league

Yes, all three points have to do with Arsenal’s attack. Our defense is unchanged. We may give up a cheap goal or two, but this attack will not be stifled by Middlesbrough.

Giroud has been tallying goals with gusto, and his numbers show that he is one of the hottest strikers in the EPL since returning from injury. Apparently he’s also the most handsome, but that’s not something that contributes to the game. Or at least I hope it doesn’t.

The point is, between Ozil, Walcott, Giroud and Santi Cazorla, Arsenal can run rampant. Throw in whatever supporting cast you want, maybe some Tomas Rosicky, maybe some Gedion Zelalem or Krystian Beilik, Arsenal have enough firepower to put up a ton of goals.

Bold Prediction: Chuba Akpom will score his first Arsenal goal.

And unlike some of the other top-tier teams, Arsenal are taking the FA Cup seriously. We will not hold back.
