2. Charlie Austin

It was not very popular when I indicated Charlie Austin as a solid striker option for Arsenal to pursue. The QPR striker has been wanting away for some time. His goal numbers would lead one to believe that he deserves a higher level of competition.

More from Arsenal News

Charlie Austin may not have the international history that other strikers do. However, he dragged QPR into the Premiership in 2013/14 with 19 goals in 31 appearances. He followed that up with a stellar campaign in the top flight as well, netting 18 times in 35 appearances. It was not enough to save QPR though.

Austin appears undeterred, as he has already put in 4 goals in 5 appearances for the Rangers.

The price tag for Charlie Austin was supposed to be in the £15 million range. He was attracting a lot of attention from Crystal Palace and a bit from Manchester United as well but Arsenal again appeared uninterested.

Austin may not have the pedigree we would ideally want but he scores goals. That is all we should be looking for when it comes to backing up Olivier Giroud. Neither Walcott nor Welbeck have proven to be consistent goal scorers from the front and Charlie Austin has. Not to mention that was on a QPR side that struggled massively.

Charlie Austin remains at QPR.
