Jeff Reine-Adelaide – A+

Everything is more convincing with a montage, so before I begin with the grading, enjoy these clips from the Emirates Cup:

Jeff Reine-Adelaide does not play like a 17 year old. He looks so much more mature on the ball. When put into a formation with some of Arsenal’s regulars against teams like Lyon and Wolfsburg, Reine-Adelaide displayed the composure of a seasoned veteran.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Arsene Wenger remarked about his young countryman: “I don’t remember how I played at 17 but I didn’t play like that,” (via the Mirror).

It takes a lot to invoke that kind of praise from a manager who has been in the game his entire life. Wenger has seen so many talents pass through his door and he has pegged Reine-Adelaide as a future star, as has Olivier Giroud.

The fact that he was not sent out on loan may be even more testament to the faith that Wenger has in him, as he plans to use him in the lesser competitions of this season.
