5. Can England salvage their dignity?

English teams have had a really tough go in European competitions lately. It has led to a much lower point total and if the trend stays the way it is, the country is doomed to lost one of their spots in the Champion’s League. All of this has led to less prolific players coming to the Premier League as they can find better success at PSG, Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.

It did not start off well for England. After initial leads from both Manchester clubs, they both succumbed to continental domination. United dropped points against PSV and City lost a hard fought battle with Juventus. With Chelsea in shambles and Arsenal a major question mark, the Premier League may be on the brink of losing their dignity altogether.

No one wants to root for our English rivals in any competition. But in the grand scheme, English success in the Champion’s League will help reverse the downward spiral that is the EPL’s respectability in European football.
