Arsenal Legends More Involved Than Ever

In the midst of Arsenal’s race for silverware, various legends throughout the course of the club have been speaking up with advice. Here is what they’ve been saying.

It used to be that every so often, Thierry Henry would use his punditry to give Arsenal advice. Ian Wright would chime in from time to time too. But the legends of the club have never been as heavily involved as they are this year. Advice and opinions are raining in from all corners of the club.

The first legend speaking up is Ian Wright. The prolific forward has taken a stance towards Arsenal’s injury situation, saying, as quoted by the Daily Star: “If people are complaining that it’s too hard they’re going to have to look at that because Arsenal are losing a lot of players to injuries.”

Arsenal’s injury situation really is the talk of the town. No one can figure out what is going on. Random Dutch medical personnel think that it is all Arsene Wenger’s fault. I am one to agree with Wright, although not all injuries have come at the Emirates.

Gilberto Silva has been weighing in with his own opinions of the club. Silva is a frequently underrated Invincible, as he was the midfield bruiser that did the dirty work while everyone else played the glory roles. Silva gave the club some advice regarding their confidence, as quoted by HITC: “It’s important for everyone to be focused on what they have to do, to keep doing their job at the highest level they can. The confidence is high but you must be careful and not let it go over the limit of what is necessary.”

It may be standard advice, but it never hurts to be reminded. Arsenal is known to get complacent at times. That complacency can be bred by getting too confident.

Finally, Robert Pires had a bit to say about Arsenal’s potential, yet unlikely, pursuit of Victor Wanyama. Asked if Wanyama could play for Arsenal, Pires said “why not?” as quoted by ESPNFC.

Naturally, this is being overblown as Robert Pires telling Arsenal to sign Victor Wanyama. That is not what he said. Pires said that Wanyama has skill, physique and speed but he needs to score more goals. Again, saying ‘why not?’ is not a ringing endorsement.

Whatever the case, it is nice to see some legendary names offering some friendly advice to the club they helped build.
