Arsenal have been met with more bad news from Jack Wilshere’s off-pitch antics. While he has denied it, his track record betrays him.

I initially set out to write about why Arsenal should cut Jack Wilshere loose against Manchester City. However, That took a left turn when I found another headline concerning Wilshere’s damn backyard football net. This football net has made the most headlines of any football net in the history of the game.

The young Englishmen erected a full-size net in his back yard and erected a giant backboard net as well to catch any stray balls that are tragically off target.

Apparently, this didn’t sit well with Wilshere’s 71 year old neighbor, who has been in a tiff with Wilshere for months now regarding the net and now it has taken a rather unfortunate turn. According to reports, police were called by the 71 year old neighbor, who claimed that Wilshere spit on and threatened him.

Wilshere has obviously denied the claims and I am one to believe him. He may have troubles off the pitch, but this goes beyond what he has done in the past. Plus, he’s smarter than to do this again in such close proximity with the night club incident.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

The problem is that Wilshere’s track record is going to support the neighbor’s claim. At that very nightclub incident, which police are still investigating, Wilshere reportedly spit on a Spurs-supporting cab driver who refused to drive him home.

That is why this doesn’t bode well. I have no idea what sort of character this neighbor is, but he could very well have a knowledge of those reports and claimed something similar. Who knows, people have done crazier things.

This season has just been a nightmare for Wilshere. The broken leg, the nightclub, and now the net incident. Everything is compiling on the young man and he has very little to show for it as this year was a complete waste.

That being said, I do think Arsenal should unleash Wilshere against Manchester City. We know how highly Jack thinks of Arsenal’s rivals and you can’t tell me he wouldn’t be fired up, both from the issues off the pitch and the long absence on the pitch. If nothing else, sub him on late and give him the start against Aston Villa. Jack has to find an Arsenal start this year, even if it comes so inconsequentially late in the season.
