Arsenal: Feel Free To Get Excited About Cohen Bramall
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal signed someone this January, but it was a relative unknown in Cohen Bramall. Yet Steve Rowley recommends that we get excited.
Call me crazy, because I am calling myself that, but I am starting to get riled up about young Cohen Bramall. The left back from Hednesford Town has several things working in his favor as he arrives at Arsenal, and it has me wondering if he is actually going to turn into the Cinderella story that we all doubted was possible.

First of all, Arsenal’s head scout Steve Rowley, who has been here doing this for 30 years, was adamant that this lad has something special.
Lee Payne, Bramall’s agent, said many a happy thing:
“I’ve been doing this a long time and I have been in these situations before, but I was so excited for Cohen,’ Payne said, as quoted by the Metro.
“Everything just felt right. We went back into the canteen at the end of the session and the chief scout Steve Rowley came over to us. He said that in 30 years he had never seen a player come from that level and do what he did.
“It’s a massive credit to Cohen. We’re talking about one of the biggest clubs in the world here. This just doesn’t happen.
“Normally they would compile a three-month report with two or three different scouts and then build a character profile.

“What’s happened with Cohen is unbelievable. It’s surreal.”
All of what Payne has said is incredibly true. This doesn’t just happen. Bramall must have been something incredibly special for this to even come close and the fact that it was done with little to no hesitation shows how confident Arsenal are in turning him into a special talent.
Then there is the matter of faith. As we have seen in Hector Bellerin, when a young talent is shown faith that no other clubs will show him, it magnifies exponentially into something like we now have in Bellerin – a dedicated, world class individual without any desire to move elsewhere.
If – when – Cohen Bramall makes it big, he won’t want to go anywhere else. He will be indebted to Arsenal for giving him that one-in-a-million chance that panned out. Because I can bet that very few other clubs were calling up Bramall and asking him to stop in for a trial.
