11. Reg Lewis

The man whom Doug Lishman was called on to replace. Reg Lewis had himself some unbelievable stats that were only tarnished by the war years, when goals weren’t counted. However, someone counted, as he supposedly scored 143 goals in 130 matches in that time.

More from Arsenal All-Time Lists

Having to serve in the military himself, Lewis was robbed of time at Arsenal, but he spent his entire career with the club. He led the team to a First Division title in 1947-48 and an FA Cup in 1950.

Despite injuries in the latter stages of his career, wartime goals not counting and serving in the military himself, Lewis finished with 116 goals in 176 appearances when he retired at 33. Every single appearance he ever made was with the Gunners, as he had been with the club since he was a schoolboy.

You just have to wonder what he could have done with better health and without the war. Either way, Lewis is a Gunner hero and well-deserves his No. 11 spot.

Which makes us almost feel bad to put No. 10 here.
