Arsenal: Does Petr Cech Owe Gooners An Apology?
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal witnessed a massive gaff from Petr Cech when he handed Chelsea a third goal, so should he apologize for his part in the embarrassing affair?
Arsenal’s 3-1 loss to Chelsea was full of deplorable offenses. From Walcott and Ozil’s inability to track back to Alexis’s sub-par outing, to Laurent Koscielny’s shocker against Eden Hazard. It was all rather gross and we’ll be lucky if we can ever forget it.

But few of these gaffs were as obviously poor and as obviously solely one man’s fault than when Petr Cech essentially rolled the ball to Cesc Fabregas (of all people) who chipped in the third goal.
It was literally unbelievable. Seeing the replay over and over, you almost couldn’t believe that it had happened. Gooner’s took to social media to question if Cech was a double agent and while I imagine most of it was in jest, there was enough disbelief to lend some credence to this horrendous and embarrassing play.
Since it happened, however, there has been no talk of it. Cech came out after the game to speak about the match itself and made no mention of it, saying:
“Second half we felt that we were still in the game, that we could come out second half and score the equaliser and then to see what we can do. Unfortunately the next goal came for them, and then obviously the third one.”
It’s understandable that he just wants to get over it and move on, but I am legitimately curious to hear opinions on this – do you think Petr Cech owes us an apology?
Normally I would state outright what I think one way or the other, but I am genuinely unsure. When I think he should apologize, I second guess and tell myself to just get over it. Then I opt for him not apologizing, but second-guess that, thinking that for a mistake that big, he should absolutely apologize.

It’s a tug of war, and I need help deciding.
I’ve already stated why I don’t think he should apologize. Just get on with it. The game was already pretty sad to watch, so let’s just get over it.
But then, when you look at everything that went into it, I begin to wonder. For starters, the game was already terrible and Cech made it even worse in a mistake for the ages. Not even Manuel Almunia would have done that.
Secondly, it was to Cesc Fabregas. Anyone else. Anyone. And I think I wouldn’t mind as much.
Lastly, it added personal insult to the match, seeing as how Cech was once a Chelsea man and won serious silverware with them.

Cech isn’t a double agent. That’s silly. But it was still a monumental gaff and so I ask of you, Gooners, do you think he should have apologized or did what he did and brushed it under the rug?
