Arsenal: Get Real, Alexis Sanchez Should Not Be Sold
By Josh Sippie
Arsenal may be hanging by a thread in the confidence department, but come on, that doesn’t mean we sell Alexis Sanchez. That’s ridiculous.
Arsenal’s loss to Chelsea pretty much solidified our fate. It’s a season to fight for a Champions League place and nothing more, unfortunately. The disappointment is massive considering how much hope there was in this new cast of characters and how great they had been early on.

But this is Arsenal and somehow, they always manage to bottle it when it counts.
That being said, some people are overreacting. There have been numerous opinions out there that Alexis Sanchez should be sold, along with Mesut Ozil.
I think I have made my opinions on Ozil known (bring on Isco!) but selling Alexis Sanchez? That’s a bit over the top, don’t you think?
The Chilean may have had a poor outing against Chelsea, but I can’t think of a single other poor outing he has had this year. He will occasionally struggle when forced to play striker, a position that I am still not convinced is for him. But overall, Alexis is our best player, hands down, and it drives me nuts to see people opting to just sell him.
Alexis has so much versatility that he can legitimately play any of the front four positions, although sticking him in a support role is where you find the most benefit. He makes people around him better because of how well he attracts attention, among other things.

He has the best work rate in the world. You can’t just find someone else that wants it as bad as he does. Maybe it’s a personal thing, but still, the club benefits.
Sure, he is going to have some moments of frustration and some bouts of wanting to do it all himself, but that is a perfectly acceptable side affect to the overall product.
That being said, the rumor that Alexis will wait to see where Arsenal finishes before deciding what to do does not have me sitting over here all smiles and giggles. You have to imagine he’s just pining for a Champions League spot, because he must understand that finishing first just isn’t going to happen.
You have to keep Alexis. You will never find someone else like him. He is the kind of guy you can build a team around.
