Arsenal: Gary Medel Singing The Right Tune For Alexis Sanchez

Arsenal’s motivation is getting murkier and murkier, so Alexis Sanchez’s Chilean team mate has taken advantage and tried to drive a wedge between Alexis and the club.

Ever since I have read what Chips Keswick had to say about Alexis Sanchez’s contract situation, I have been livid. Arsenal are clearly just a money-grabbing scheme for the board. As long as they turn a profit, they are happy with where they are headed.

Keswick essentially said that Alexis would not have wages to match what the market is doing to similar stars wages. He also more or less hinted that no one else would (even though the club is wasting so much money on Theo Walcott. I guess for his “loyalty”).

Which makes the timing of Gary Medel’s message even more menacing.

A Chilean team mate of Alexis’s, Medel has spoken up about his countryman right as the doubts over his North London future are festering all the worse.

“Alexis is a player everyone knows. He’s one of those strikers that all the top clubs look at,” he said, as quoted by Goal.com.

“I don’t know what his future will be, but if he asks for information on Inter, I’ll say that here we have a great squad, a very good coach and directors who are hungry for victories. You won’t find a project like this elsewhere.”

What is the key thing there? “Directors who are hungry for victories”.

If there is one thing that we know about our rambunctious Chilean, it’s that he is hungry for victories. I’d wager that there aren’t many hungrier. But Inter’s directors will feed into that hunger.

More from Pain in the Arsenal

Compare that to Arsenal’s directors, who look at victories like a vegetarian looks at bacon – “that looks like it would be tasty, but I’ll stick with my grass.”

Alexis is already being courted by Juventus, but Inter are a proud and historic club that could make massive headwaves by adding someone like Alexis to their midst. He changes the game, where the game can be changed, at least, and Arsenal’s game can’t exactly be changed when the directors don’t want it to be.

You can bet that Alexis heard what Medel had to say and you can bet that he heard what Keswick had to say. I don’t think I need to tell my educated readers which mindset is more in-line with his.

I won’t pretend to be a doomsday preacher, but Alexis certainly has a lot on his mind these days.
