Arsenal has a bright future for Hector Bellerin, but the Spaniard is flirting with the idea of joining Barcelona and at the price they’ll pay, why not?

Arsenal rescued Hector Bellerin from years of being mired in Barcelona’s academy. Arsene Wenger plucked him right up and gave him the opportunity he deserved and he took it, ran with it and proved that he was much better than Barcelona might have expected.

And through the years, Bellerin has been very good about turning away all advances from his former club. He has said he would not follow in Cesc Fabregas’s footsteps, he said he would hang up if the Catalan giants called, he said he was committed to Arsenal and to Arsene Wenger.

That was all fun. It was great. We were all having a good time. But now, more and more you can see he is starting to open up to the idea. He refers to them as the best club in the world, he says he is so happy that they are interested in him and, lately, he has said that you never really know what can happen in football.

Maybe I buy into respect and image far too much, but Bellerin is severely denting both his supposed respect for the Gunners and his image as well. What happened to the Bellerin that was defiant to the Spanish powerhouse? What changed his mind? Was he talking out of his arse the entire time when he continued to deny that he had any interest in returning?

At this point, it seems like we are going to lose him at some point down the road. Who knows when. That being the case, just sell him now. If Barcelona are willing to put up £45m for him, then ship him out and use that money to build the team in more important places.

Because here’s what is likely going to happen. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is going to challenge Bellerin and probably about half the time, he is going to win. Meaning that Bellerin is going to be in and out of the starting XI, sharing time with the surging Englishman.

That is going to rub him the wrong way, especially with Barcelona promising him a land flowing with milk and honey. Not only that, but it is severely going to hurt Bellerin’s transfer value. This is the peak of his value, I’d wager.

That being the case, why not just sell him now? Go grab Elseid Hysaj or someone from Napoli to cover your tracks, let the Ox run away with the right wing back job and use the profit to invest in a striker. At this point it beats the frustration of seeing Bellerin get all googly-eyed every time Barcelona gets mentioned
