Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 7.75

Well done for sticking with this ’til this point because it has been a rather rough ride. But finally, we get to the good stuff. Arsenal’s two best players this season were their two strikers. We will start with their top goalscorer and the co-winner of the Premier League’s Golden Boot, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Aubameyang scored 30 goals across Premier League and Europa League competition. There is not really much more I have to write than that to convey his quality to you. His movement is sensational, his speed is obviously devastating, and he is a good, if slightly inconsistent, finisher. Some criticise him for the chances that he misses, and that is certainly a part of his game, but look at the volume of chances he creates for himself with his movement and the misfires pale in comparison.

He is not rated quite as high as Alexandre Lacazette because of his poor hold-up play — it is better than most think it is but not at the same level as the Frenchman’s and tendency to become isolated. This is an area he must work on, but otherwise, this was a nigh-on perfect season from the Gunners’ best goalscorer since Robin van Persie.
