All English Arsenal supporters will want to hear no mention of Italy or Italian football for quite some time, yet Inter are the club most likely to aid the transfer budget this summer with their pursuit of Hector Bellerin.

While signings are starting to take effect in north London, there is still a significant amount of work to be done, both in and out.

Granit Xhaka’s move to Roma is taking longer than expected with the Serie A side playing hardball on their bid, one far below Arsenal’s valuation. Apart from the Swiss few moves have been mooted and so far only two outgoings have been sanctioned, neither on permanent deals.

Both Konstantinos Mavropanos and Matteo Guendouzi‘s departures will become full-time depending on certain outcomes, although those deals are fairly certain to be permanent come 12 months’ time.

Arsenal informed of Hector Bellerin transfer decision with Inter chasing defender’s signature in summer window – deal worth around £17m.

Elsewhere it’s Hector Bellerin who is likely to garner the biggest transfer fee this summer. Quoted at £35m last summer, European finances have forced Arsenal to settle for distinctly less at £17m.

Inter have shown a willingness to meet those demands, which is of course excellent news. What isn’t so cut and dry is how they intend to do so. Arsenal naturally favour a permanent move with money up front whereas Inter favour a loan deal with the option to buy. This despite just earning around £60m for Achraf Hakimi. Of course.

And the latest from Matteo Moretto and Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia is that Bellerin has informed Arsenal that his desire this summer is to join the Serie A champions.

While the player’s wishes will help push a move through, the deal in question remains wholly unsatisfactory. Arsenal have since softened their stance on a permanent sale and will sanction a loan move, so long as it includes an obligation to buy once completed.

Simone Inzaghi’s side remain firm in their stance, one that does absolutely nothing for Arsenal, but Bellerin informing Mikel Arteta and co of his desire to join the Nerazzurri could see this deal move quickly. Di Marzio adds that there is optimism is increasing.

As for now, Bellerin flew out with the rest of the squad to Scotland on Monday as they prepare to take on Hibernian and Rangers in the space of five days for their pre-season tour ahead of flying to the USA from July 21 to July 28 where they will face, of course, Inter.
