5 Arsenal players Unai Emery could sign for Newcastle

3. Mohamed Elneny

Unfortunately for Mohamed Elneny he didn’t feature a great deal when Emery was in charge at Arsenal for his only full season.

Playing eight times in the Premier League and making 17 outings overall, he then went out on loan to Besiktas the following campaign and returned when there was a new manager at the helm.

But what about a touch of security in the centre of the pitch? How about someone who will keep the ball better than most at Newcastle and at least potentially allow them to retain possession and move some players into the uncharted territory otherwise known as ‘the other half of the pitch’?

Elneny would come in on the cheap with his deal running out at the end of the season and supporters of the club would know he’s capable of scoring the occasional long range screamer, which is near enough their only hope of finding the back of the net.

He knows the league, he knows what it’s like to play negative football – it’s his prerogative – so where is the harm in a short term deal?
