After contract talks with Bayern Munich have stalled, Serge Gnabry has emerged as a serious target for Arsenal this summer.

It would be perhaps one of the signings of the summer if Edu Gaspar and company could pull off signing the former Gunner and current Bayern star.

The 26-year-old is entering the final year of his deal with the German giants, and the club may be forced to sell or risk losing him for nothing next summer if a new contract can’t be agreed upon.

The thought of a world-class winger coming back to the carpet and mixing it with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Emile Smith Rowe, and latching onto Martin Odegaard’s through balls thrusts us Gooners into a state of utter delirium.

While there is still a lot of water to go under the bridge regarding a deal, the fact that some reports state that Gnabry could be available for as little as €25 million and no more than €40 million presents a no-brainer for the Arsenal hierarchy to get the deal done.

Should our dreams come true and Gnabry once again calls the Emirates home, where would he fit?
Straight into the starting XI without question. Likely to bump out one of our young stars, Gnabry is world-class and will guarantee goals. His record at Bayern is seriously impressive.

Over the last four seasons with the German giants, Gnabry has hit double-figure goals in each campaign. His best return came in the 2019/20 season, in which he scored 23 goals and registered 14 assists across all competitions.

His versatility is a massive weapon. Capable of playing on either side of a front three and even down the middle if needed, he would add some serious firepower to Arsenal’s front line. Last season, the winger produced 17 goals (14 in the league) and ten assists in all competitions.

Currently a regular for Bayern and the German national team, the winger is a proven winner; winning the Champions League under Hansi Flick in 2020, as well as three league titles, and a FIFA Club World Cup.

Having a winger who can regularly score goals would seriously help out Arsenal going forward and would ease the pressure on the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Emile Smith Rowe, and whoever leads the line for Arsenal next season.

The 26-year-old is a bonafide starter, and not many Arsenal fans would have any qualms about Gnabry starting over the likes of Martinelli or Smith Rowe. Given the Gunners’ schedule next season, all will get ample game time.

Gnabry returning to the carpet next season is a tantalizing prospect. There is still a lot to play out, and one can argue that the team needs strengthening in other areas before another winger is brought in. However, this may be the only chance Arsenal has to secure a world-class player for peanuts.

Gnabry would transform Arsenal going forward, and to correctly answer the question; where would he fit? Anywhere he wants.
